Matt Stoll was appointed as the Executive Director of Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS) in September 2004. COMPASS is the designated metropolitan planning organization responsible for transportation planning in Ada and Canyon counties. The COMPASS Board comprises 39 members representing the cities, counties, highway districts, school districts, state agencies, and other entities within the two counties. Under Mr. Stoll’s direction, the organization will focus on developing and retaining collaborative and cooperative partnerships with local, state, and federal planning agencies and with Treasure Valley communities. Mr. Stoll’s responsibilities include direct supervision of all work programs, personnel, legal and fiscal matters and direction of a19-person staff and supporting consultants.
In the two years prior to being appointed as the Executive Director, Mr. Stoll served as the organization’s Deputy Executive Director and Director of Transportation and Air Quality. Prior to joining COMPASS, he was employed by the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality for nine years in various management and staff positions including Regional Airshed Manager and Air Quality Sciences Manager.
Mr. Stoll has a Bachelor of Arts degree from State University of New York, College at Geneseo in geography; Master of Arts degree in geography from Arizona State University; and post-master’s degree course work from Arizona State University and University of Idaho. He is married with two daughters. He is also active within the Treasure Valley community through his involvement in various volunteer and non-profit organizations.
