Monitoring westslope cutthroat trout in watersheds of the Coeur d’Alene basin – Challenges associated with a species that occupies spatially diverse habitats throughout its life-history
Wednesday Nov. 19th Clearwater Room 9:30-10:30

Jon Firehammer is currently employed as a fisheries biologist with the Coeur d’Alene Tribe. His primary responsibilities entail examining the mechanisms that may be limiting the recovery of native fish populations and evaluating the effectiveness of habitat restoration projects that have been implemented to enhance fisheries resources. Before employment with the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, Jon had been involved in various fisheries research and management programs in western states over the last 15 years. His experience has been primarily with migratory species ranging from long-lived relict species that inhabit large warm-water turbid rivers (e.g., paddlefish) to species that prefer cold-water environments (e.g., salmonids). He has worked with a variety of groups including tribal organizations, federal agencies, and university research programs.
