Why be Firewise? A discussion of individual responsibility and community planning
Tuesday 2:45pm Emerald Room
Cris Bent is currently the fire chief of the Secesh Meadows Rural Fire District. He became involved with the fire district as a result of owning property on Secesh Meadows for 35 years, not as a result of a lifelong career as a firefighter. He saw that fires were a continually occurring issue for the residents of the meadow, so Cris has worked to obtain grants that would target fuel reduction around homes. His background in education has been extremely useful for convincing homeowners of the need to protect their homes along with the collaborative partnerships he has formed with credible contractors, Idaho County, and Idaho Department of Lands.
