Brad Gilbert is from Colorado and received his bachelors and masters degrees in Natural Resource Management from Colorado State University. He has worked for the Forest Service for 30 years and moved to the Idaho Panhandle National Forests in 1988. He was the District Ranger for the St. Joe District and more recently was responsible for forest vegetation, fire, engineering, minerals, and environmental analysis for the Idaho Panhandle Forests.

In March of 2007 he was selected to be the Forest Service Team Leader for the Idaho Roadless Rule.
